I found the issue: Lotus expects only one POP3 account per server. You can't do like in Outlook and configure multiple mailboxes from the same POP3 server -- if you try to put in a second account it gets confused. There are several obvious potential workarounds, and also material about this issue in other threads (search on Multiple POP3) which I'll investigate.
